KUPA has its origin in 2013 and was responsible for the negotiated democracy that ushered in the participation by the Kuria people in Migori County.
The Abakuria tribe live in Migori County located in the southern western Kenya. The community neighbours the Luo to the North, and Maasai of Trans-Mara to the East. Kuria is divided into Kuria East and West Constituencies and has 4 sub-counties. The Abakuria people have a projected population of 330,000 and are a marginalized and minority communities in Kenya.
KUPA meets quarterly to bring together prominent sons and daughters of Kurian Ancestry that include professionals, elders, political leaders, cultural ambassadors, youth, women among others.
